100 Yr old Unconverted ex Fellows Morton and Clayton Motor boat \"COLUMBIA\"
This boat started out life as a horse drawn boat in 1907 and was built in Birmingham, 3yrs before the titanic sank! and worked for FMC, (see attached picture) she was one of twelve boats with foriegn country names they originally had fore cabins.
She was then converted into a motor boat in 1937 by Yarwoods in northwich along with the eleven other boats.
She originally had a 9hp Bolinder but this was replaced later with an 15hp Armstrong siddeley AS2 so she could tow a butty.
She was sold to British Waterways in the 40s and worked for them until the 70s by which time she had been shortened to 54ft and used as a maintainence boat. She was then turned into a pleasure craft and had a full cabin. She was then shipped off to Dave Thomas in Braunston to be stretched back to her original size, so she has had 27ft of new bow section completly replaced with a 10/6 mm steel spec. she is currently up for sale unconverted and back to former glory.
