Greyhound left the FMC fleet with the remaining boats in 1949 and passed to the Docks and Inland Waterways Executive. She worked as a maintenance boat and was based at the Hilmorton yard. At this time her Bolinder engine was replaced with a lister FR3. She passed into the hands of Alfred Matty and Sons and eventually fell into a state of disrepair.
In 1986 she passed to Malcolm Burge of Circle Transport who restored her, and FAZELEY to trading condition painted in the Black and White colour scheme. By 1991 Malcolm had moved to Captain Cargo Limited and repainted the fleet in the Red and Green colour scheme, Greyhound being the first to appear in the new colours.
On May 1st 1996 she, along with the other Captain Cargo boats passed to the newly formed South Midland Water Transport Limited and as such worked various jobs around the country.
In recent years she has won the Alfred Ritchie Challenge Cockeral for the best turned out working boat, the Volvo Penta Bolinder trophy and the Robert Aickman Memorial Trophy for the most meritorous journey to a national rally.
The wooden cabin suffered after lots of boating and bolinderation over the years and she was taken on the 3rd February 2008 to Narrowcraft's factory in Poland for repairs.
